Near Zanesville a brand new trail system, AEP trail system, is created by COMBO and is ready to host every ambitious mountain biker. At the moment the loop trail is 5 mi/8 km long, but many more miles are about to be built with the help of volunteers.
The trail is technical in many spots with exposed rocks, roots and switchbacks to maneuver. It is probably best ridden late spring early summer, just before the vegetation takes over the place. Besides technical, the trail is drenched in spiderwebs that are stretched across it, so be extra cautious.
There is one short, steep climb and two or three pretty easy gradual climbs. It is a quite interesting trail with magnificent views, 75 ft/22.8 m cliffs and clear lakes. It is suggested to have some skills, before you try riding it.
With a 5 out of 5 aerobic and technical difficulty and a 3.75 out of 5 average rating by countless mountain bikers that have ridden this trail, AEP is a perfect mountain biking destination.
