In Franklin County, Ohio, lies one great mountain biking trail, the Darby Creek Trail. Mountain biking in general is a very popular activity in the Ohio state and in the whole US. There are some trails that are worth to ride, because they are either technical or scenic.
Sometimes, trails combine these two features, creating the perfect combination. Darby Creek Trail is intermediate on level of difficulty and pretty technical, as it has some hill climbs and big gravel stones in places. The trail is cut in two, the first part is the scenic one and the second is both scenic and technical.
The northern 3.5 mi/5.6 km trail, from the total 7.8 mi/12.5 km, winds through the Prairie Oaks Metro Park. This park is a 500 ac/2.02 km² park full of wildflowers and grasslands, ideal for photographing and picnic breaks especially near the lake.
The southern 4 mi/6.4 km trail travels through another beautiful park, the Battelle Darby Creek Metro Park, which includes a segment of bison viewing area. These two sections are for now disconnected and parallel to the National Scenic River and Big Darby State on the western outskirts of the city of Columbus.
