One of the beaches, famous for windsurfing is Oxwich bay. It is located in the heart of Gower Peninsula and its length is 4 km/2 mi long. The beach is sandy and the strongest winds are western oriented. Ideal wind is northwesterly, ideal tide mid to high and swell to be southwesterly.
However don’t expect huge waves and extreme riding, as Oxwich beach needs a very big swell in order to produce a big wave, that is why the beach is perfect if you are a beginner. Usual wave height is around 1 to 1.5 m/3 to 5 ft.
The beach is quite packed during weekends and is preferred by families, so if you visit the spot in a busy day, you must be extra cautious with the bathers. Also try to avoid the entry point of the beach, because it is quite rocky.
