Michigan Tech Easy Loop is the best place to start riding singletrack. With its 2.43 m/8 ft wide corridor, 1.21 m/4 ft wide bridges and flat terrain with very little elevation change, it’s the perfect place to start practice riding narrow objects. There are also some 17 in/43.18 cm wide ground level boardwalks over muddy sections.
The Easy Loop starts at the main Tech trailhead and passes through a wetland forest, while crossing some small streams and wide arched bridges. After crossing the Pilgrim Road, you will enter the Tolkien Trails.
If 7.24 km/4.5 mi sounds long, the central Ring Loop is close and you can follow one of the many smaller loops (Troll Loop, Ent Loop, Gnome Loop, Elf Loop and Hobbit Loop) to head back to the main trailhead. On the other hand, if you feel like it, you can wander around a little bit more in the Tolkien Trail. So come, pedal as fast as you can and enjoy amazing natural surroundings!
