In northern Georgia near Clayton, you will come across one of the most spectacular off road parks in Georgia, Oakey Mountain OHV Trails. This park is perfectly suitable for motocross. Oakey Mountain OHV Trails offers approximately 6 mi/9.6 km of trails in the forest at an elevation of 2100 to 2600 ft/640 to 792 m.
Some of the sections might have some sharp switchbacks, which are steep and rocky. All the trails are marked, not rated and lightly maintained. The features of the trails are amazing. Berms, many trees, rocks, dust, mud, hard pack and mostly loose dirt.
There are a few hazards that are assumed to be marked, but still drive with caution, because it might be missing. The trails are mostly suitable for amateurs, some novices and little experts. In order to ride these trails, you must own an OHV trail permit and your dirt bike must not exceed 96 dB in noise. The area is opened from April to January.
Parking and entering are free, but if you want to ride or camp, there is a fee per rider or annual fee and a camping fee. The campground has picnic tables, lantern holders, six pull through sites, fire rings and a vault toilet. It is recommended to stay at least a couple of days, in order to discover all trails.
