The town is surrounded by the awe-inspiring Southern Alps, with spectacular mountains such as the Crown Range, Haast Pass, Roys Peak and Pisa Range and is close to Mount Aspiring National Park (World Heritage Area). Grasp the opportunity to descend into Niger Stream inside the canyon (be prepared for approximately 4 hours of descent) and feel the thrill of going down among sharp and steep rocks. Slide through narrow passageways, get to jump and swim during strong water flows, fight the waterfalls and learn abseiling techniques. Don’t forget to bring your bathing suit and a towel with you!
