Mount Olympus is the highest mountain in Greece, known worldwide for its mythological importance, as according to the religion of the ancient Greeks, the 12 "Olympian" gods lived there. Located in Pieria region, on the borders of Macedonia and Thessaly, this incredible mountainous massif has a number of peaks with the highest of all, called Mytikas, reaching a top elevation of 9573 ft / 2918 m and is surrounded by deep gorges and areas of outstanding biodiversity.

Every year, thousands of nature enthusiasts from all over the world visit the mountain to admire its unique beauty and conquer its peaks, as this place is one of the best destinations in the country for a wide variety of outdoor activities, all year round. The climate in the lower regions is Mediterranean with hot and dry summers and an average temperature of 27°C/80°F, while winters are wet and cold with frequent snowfalls and an average temperature of  5°C/41°F.

Enipeas Canyon is located on the eastern slopes of Mount Olympus and starts from Prionia section at an altitude of 3280 ft/1000 m. The stream rushes through the canyon and forms many natural pools and waterfalls, while the temperature of the water in no more than 5°C/41°F during summer. In order to reach the entrance of the canyon, located at 2755 ft/840 m high, you should hike for about 15 mins the E4 trail from S. Dionisios Monastery.

Once you enter the canyon, you will be amazed by its natural beauty, the crystal clear waters and the dense nature that surrounds it. Canyoning there, includes everything a true adventurer would want to experience in one day. The total length of the canyon is about 3.7 mi/6 km and offers a lot of rappelling, zip lining, steep sections, narrow passages and many jumps from high rocks, right into the crystal clear waters of the stream. Halfway through the canyon, there is also a 124 ft/38 m waterfall with strong water flow that will excite even the most experienced climbers.

The canyoning expedition takes about seven to eight hours to complete. It is not suitable for beginners, because of  the long duration and good physical condition is required. The best season to visit Enipeas Canyon is from June to August. However on days with heavy showers, canyoning might be cancelled, due to high flood risk. The exit point is located near Litochoro village at an altitude of 951 ft/290 m.
