There are few hazards on the trails, which are marked, in order to prevent any injury. There is a noise limit of 96 dB and helmets are paramount. The park is mostly addressed to amateur riders, some novices and little experts.
The admission is free, but an Iowa Registration Sticker is required. Camping is not permitted, but nearby McBridge Reservoir offers swimming and camping opportunities as well.
