Between Arco and Dro municipalities, at 10 km / 6.2 mi from Garda Lake, stands the Monte Brento Mountain, with its 1545 m / 5068 ft height and with one of the most challenging walls in Europe, offering the possibility to practice extreme Base Jumping. The east wall of Brento Mt. is among the first three most exciting cliff drops in Europe.
The wall with its 650 m / 2132 ft depth is divided into three zones. The first 250 m/820 ft constitutes the ”red zone”, the off point, where the fall is free without the possibility of using a parachute because jumpers fly very close to the wall. In the next 250 m/820 ft, the ”yellow zone”, it is possible for jumpers to use the main parachute.
For the last 150 m/492 ft, the ”green zone”, jumpers in order to avoid the outcrop of the rock overhanging the Brento Mt. slope in the landing area, is indispensable to start the landing preparations even manually and make the necessary maneuver and effective drifts. This flying zone is called, not without a reason, the ”becco dell’ aquila” meaning the beak of the eagle!
Certified mountaineering is required in this location.
