Saint Petersburg is a city situated on the Neva river, at the head of the Gulf of Finland on the Baltic Sea. The federal subject of Saint Petersburg has its name changed three times, from Saint Petersburg to Petrograd, then Leningrad and back to Saint Petersburg.

One of the reasons St. Petersburg is well known is the big amount of snow that covers the entire area, thus offering perfect conditions for the most popular winter sport, alpine skiing.

There are many places, where you can ski in St. Petersburg. One of them is open since October, inviting you to slide on its awesome slopes. Golden Dolina or as it is else known, Zolotaya Dolina Ski Resort, is a great destination for the early time skiers.

With a vertical drop of 105 m/344.5 ft, the resort offers 12 tracks of varying difficulty to vacationers, who want to test themselves. For those who are beginners, there is one track and the lift is free of charge. The rest of the tracks are split into 2 for intermediate, 5 for advanced and 3 for expert skiers.

These trails are served by 6 chairlifts. Many competitions are taking place in the resort, on the professional half pipe, rail, Big-Air and fun box that are imitations of urban buildings. If you like night skiing, you can enjoy your favorite sport on the illuminated tracks.

Other amenities in the resort include equipment rentals and repair, snow cannons, stores equipment, nightlife, restaurants and cafes. All of these elements compose the perfect winter skiing holidays!!!
