Located at 13 km/8 mi in the north of Kuala Lumpur, Batu Caves is the haven for rock climbing in Kuala Lumpur. It got its name from the famous cave system, hosting one of the most significant Indian Temples in South East Asia. Flanked by amazing flora and fauna, it offers 8 crags and over 160 climbing routes and is made up of limestone hills rising up to 150 m/492 ft. The climbing routes are easily accessible since most of the crags start from the ground level.
To get to the caves, one must climb a flight of 272 stairs!!! And what is more… beware of the cheeky monkeys since they can snatch your bags!! The classics here include the Damai Wall which is good for beginners and multi-pitch climbing. There is also the Nyamuk Wall which is a must do!! It is the longest and best sport climbing route. Nanyang Wall on the other hand features short and technical routes while the Comic Wall features overhanging as well as technical routes.
Minimum age requirement is 14 years and climbers need to adhere to safety precautions.
