Located in the northeastern part of Bali, Batur Caldera is with no doubt one of the best in the world. Commonly referred to as “trekking with the gods”, the experience is one that will linger on for a long time to come. The crater stands at 10 km/6.2 mi to 13 km/8 mi. Fantastic views of the ocean, Lake Batur and mountains, are a guarantee once you start walking on the rim. After climbing the Caldera wall, you start trekking on the verge of the big crater where you start feasting your eyes on the magnificent views Bali has to offer.
This journey will take you through immaculate villages in Bali including the Bali Aga village of Trunyan where you can witness the fascinating animistic customs of the original Balinese. Starting point is Ulundanu and the trekking begins at 5:oo up the Caldera wall and by 6:oo you will be at the top of the Caldera and witness the amazing view and sunrise. The descent will take you down to Pulak which is a tiny village on the shore. The whole trekking expedition can take between 6-8 hours.  Dress code recommended is long pants, jacket and most importantly trekking shoes.
