There is a vast number of surf breaks that offer great waves. Eaglehawk Neck beach or the Neck is an exposed beach break that is about 200 m/656 ft long. On this spot surfers are able to explore the waves with swell sizes from less than 1 m/3 ft and holding up to 2 m/6 ft. Offshore winds blow from the west and the ideal swell direction is from the south, southeast.
In summer, the wind blows offshore at 7%, in autumn the wind blows at 9%, in winter at 11% and in spring at 7%. The best period for waves is in winter when the average maximum sea temperature is at 12°C /53.6°F. Surfers will not have much competition for waves here, as it is usually uncrowded. The site is suitable for all surfers.
Finally, apart from surfing you can visit Port Arthur that is at about 60 km/37 mi southeast of Hobart, the capital state and it is the most significant heritage location in Tasmania. Note: watch out for sharks.
