Balmoral is an urban locality in the suburb of Mosman, at about 8 km/5 mi in the north-east of Sydney's CBD. Balmoral beach lies on the northern side of Sydney Harbor and provides with a number of local facilities, restaurants and cafes. It also offers a plethora of activities, such as surfing, sailing, diving and snorkeling.
Kayaking is one of many activities that visitors can choose from. As long as you can swim, you can paddle the kayak and admire the entrance to Middle Harbor, North Head, Manly and Clontarf from the water. Paddle the pristine waters and explore the magnificent Edwards and Balmoral beach.
The spot hosts several options of kayak tour centers, offering courses and lessons for beginners and for more experienced kayakers of a reasonable fitness.
Paddlers can choose to either paddle alone or request for a guided tour. Paddlers can also choose a single or double of which both are solid and stable. The beach is protected from the occasional swell by Middle head, which makes it safe and easy to kayak on Sydney Harbor.
The best periods are in spring and autumn when the weather is not too hot (20-25°C/68-77°F). Best times to go kayaking is either early in the morning or early in the afternoon. Last but not least, bring a dry change of clothes, drinking water, sunscreen and a hat.
