At the south end of Whale beach, there is a park with picnic facilities. The north side of the beach, known as Wedge attracts surfers of all levels.
Surfers can explore the waves with swell sizes from 3 ft-5 ft (1 m-1.5 m) to 10 ft (3 m). The best tide movement is rising and falling tides. Good wind direction is from the northwest,west and the ideal swell direction is from the north, northeast.

The average water temperature is about 21°C/69.8°F. It is a crowded spot, especially on weekends, so be patient. Watch out for rocks and rips.
