Santos Reef is shallow sheltered reef forming the western border of Mossel Bay’s swimming beach. The spot is a shore entry one with the bottom comprising of rock, reef and sand. Within a short boats ride, it leads to an amazing and breathtaking garden of feather-worms, octopus, sea fans, redbait and massive schools of blacktail. On the reef’s edge is where you can find “sand-dollar”.
Diving depths here range from 2-7 m/6.5-23 ft with good visibility although during summer months it can get as low as 1 m/3 ft. Diving here is doable under most conditions and the spot accommodates all levels of divers, being also a perfect location for divers training.
