If you are a water sports enthusiast, you will come across many beaches near St. Petersburg, at the Finnish Bay coast appropriate for one of the most popular water sports, surfing. Mys Flotskiy is a beach for those who like day trips. A car is essential and after parking, you have to walk for about half an hour in order to find the place.
It is not so easy to find, so it is suggested to either have a GPS device with you or ask a local. Besides that, you can access the spot with a 4×4 vehicle. The beach is not so known among most of the people. Only those who are really interested into surfing visit it.
With an average air temperature of 6°C/42.8°F, you should be daring enough to surf there! The wind mostly blows from the east-southeast, southeast, northeast, east-northeast, east, south-southwest, southwest, south-southeast, south and west-southwest.
The wave doesn’t break a lot and it is advised to check the weather forecast and webcams, so you don’t drive there for no reason. The bottom of the sea is sandy with rocks and waves have awesome rights and lefts. On normal and good days, the wave length is short below 50 m/164 ft.
The swell starts working at 1 – 1.5 m/3 – 5 ft and holds up to 2+ m/6+ ft. All tides work good for the spot and the best tide movements are rising and falling tides. In general, Mys Flotskiy is a great spot with nice surf breaks, so be sure to visit it!
