Bethel Bike Trails are a network of trails, which used to be motorcycle trails. The trails are located in the Desoto National Forest. Badlands, Briar Patch, Couch Trail, Turtle Back Trail, Pine Lizard, South Pine Lizard and South Bethel are primarily single track with the occasional fire and jeep trail. They are mostly flat with just a little alteration in elevation. The Gulf Coast Bicycle Club has repaired this network of trails since Hurricane Katrina and maintaining it ever since.
The Bethel Bike Trails range from tight turns in the trees to very scenic rides in a Piney Wood forest and along creeks. It is not only an enjoyable ride, but also the only ride on the Mississippi Gulf Coast. Be prepared for a variety of soils that varies from sand to hard packed dirt. There are also some quite good structures throughout the course. There isn’t a lot of elevation change, but at some parts it is enough to make trails challenging.
There are some nice gnarly bits by the creek on Badlands, a short bridge on South Bethel and a few flowy sections in and out of the canopy. Clay climb is also challenging in both directions. Overall, the Bethel Bike Trails are fun, easygoing and suitable for beginners or advanced riders.
