Messinia is a stunning and remote corner in Southwestern Peloponnese region in Greece. It’s a place with well-preserved historical monuments, peaceful and hospitable residents and of course, the trademark of whole Greece, beautiful, clean, unspoiled beaches. Few places on earth are blessed with the beauty and riches of Messinia and nowhere else in Greece is the Mediterranean landscape so well presented.

With a coastline so rich, with beautiful fishing villages and so many uninhabited islands, kayaking is one of the best ways to see Messinia. Explore Messinia is a company offering exactly this! Specifically designed sea kayaking routes along the breathtaking coast of the Peloponnese region.

Explore Messinia offers sea kayaking excursions in 5 different locations within Messinia, giving you the chance to explore all the possibilities of the spot.

In Marathoupoli, explore the isle of Proti, a pirates hideout. The route leads to hidden beaches, deserted islands and ravishing rock formations.

In Methoni, paddle alongside the walls of one of the most impressive castles of Peloponnese and cross a channel leading to the always green island of Sapienza, whilst paddling over numerous ancient shipwrecks just before you reach the remote beach of the island.

In Mani, paddle to the beach of the legendary Zorba The Greek, passing through little coves with hidden caves, cliffs with beautiful formations right at the foot of the grand and the impressive Taygetos mountain.

In the Messinian capital, Kalamata, paddle from coastal village to the next one and to the next one… All of these picturesque fishing villages are rich in history, culture and tradition. Paddle next to the scenic harbors and enjoy the beautiful turquoise waters.

Two excursion options are offered in Navarino. The first one serves as an introduction to the historical bay of Navarino, a natural mooring spot and a witness of great naval conflicts of the past. The second one is more extensive and longer, daring to go out the sheltered bay into the Ionian sea, weather permitting. Some previous experience is preferable for this one.

Whichever route you choose, you will have the chance to enjoy swimming and snorkeling in the beautiful waters of Messinia and have a healthy picnic with local delicacies and fruits during one of the breaks.

One thing is certain, Explore Messinia will make sure to show you around Messinia in the most professional way. Sea kayaking is one of the best ways to do it, but they also offer hiking tours as well as other river activities!!! So come and live your myth in Greece with Explore Messinia!!!
