Ancient Lakes is part of the Quincy Wildlife Recreation Area, at one hour away from Wenatchee Town. The whole area is considered to be an ecological treasure. The trail leading to the Ancient Lakes is 8mi/12km long, out and back, with an elevation gain of 100ft/30m.
There are small and big lakes in this desert looking area and waterfalls, altogether composing a unique and unusual ecosystem. While hiking along the old jeep trail, continue left towards Ancient Lakes. Once you reach the lakes, the amazing beauty of the basin and the crystal clear waters will take your breath away.
You can explore the entire basin and discover beautiful wildflowers, colourful birds and insects.You can hike this trail all year round. However if you visit during summer, the lakes are suitable for swimming. Ancient Lakes is an amazing hike for nature enthusiasts, suitable for all skill levels, certainly worth visiting.
