The Levubu River or Levuvhu is located in the northern Limpopo province of South Africa. The Luvuvhu River flows for about 200 km/124 mi through a diverse range of landscapes before joining the Limpopo River in the Fever Tree Forest area, near Pafuri in the Kruger National Park. The trail begins from Phalaborwa to Pafuri Gate, through the Greater Kruger’s Letaba Ranch and Makuya Park. This is a one way trail and is strictly a guided one, covering a distance of 250 km/155 mi long and lasting 100 hours. This means you will have to camp at one point, thus camping equipment is necessary. There is no water along the trail, so roaders need to be self sufficient.
The trail’s terrain consists of rough tracks, sandy river beds, steep ascents and descents and suited for 4×4 off-road vehicles with off-road trailers. 4×4 soft roaders with low profile tires are not suitable. Once you book for this thrilling adventure, you will be provided with a guide with his own vehicle and a two way radio communication system.
Another thing to note is weather conditions. During summers it can get as hot as 40°C/104°F and in the winter the evening can get as low as 6°C/42.8°F.
