Taking its name after the Dutch, meaning “Happy River”, Blyde River is South Africa’s national treasure, permeated between high cliffs and vast vegetation. It is the third biggest canyon and the largest vegetated canyon in the world, offering a stunning white water rafting experience. The lower section of the canyon is more of an introduction to white water rafting with more laid back rafting.
The difficulty level here is easy with rapids mostly between 1-2 however in some cases it can get to grade 3. The lower Blyde river offers a breathtaking scenery and an amazing bird life. The paddling distance to be covered here is between 3-6 km/1.9-3.7 mi and lasts between 1-2 hours. Age restriction here is minimum 10 years-old and minimum of 4 persons per booking.
