Riksgransen ski resort is located in Kiruna Municipality, Lapland, Sweden. The spot is located at 200 km/124 mi in the north of the Arctic Circle and in the vicinity of the Norwegian borders. The spot is considered to be the ultimate destination for snow fans since the spot is Sweden's longest snow covered location.
Riksgränsen is Sweden’s most legendary ski resort with lifts open from February to midsummer. There are plenty of pistes, but this resort is famous for its off-piste trails. Visit on May, a period of the year where the sun almost never set, and enjoy snowboarding under the midnight sun all day long! March and April are considered to be the months of high season period with very low temperatures, reaching at -14°C/6.8°C.
At the resort, there are 29 available pistes to perform snowboarding. 4 green, 4 blue, 7 red and 14 black. There are no snow-parks at the resort but the terrain in Riksgransen will not let you down. The area is full of hillsides, huge rock drops and natural jumps, making the terrain perfect for snowboarding tricks.
A nice piste to ski is called “Sheriff”, after the police officer Bertil Gidlund from Kiruna. He used to like bringing tourists in town who were unaware of the cliff, with the result of falling headlong and stood still on the crest.
You can move across the pistes on 6 ski lifts, with Nordalsliften being the longest one at 1350 m/4429 ft long and a vertical drop of 300 m/984 ft. Riksgransen resort offers many services available to the visitors, like training schools for avalanche, cafe and restaurant, medical facilities and resting areas.
