Riksgränsen, the National Border in Swedish, is a ski-resort in Kiruna Municipality, Lapland, Sweden, at 200 km/124 mi in the north of the Arctic Circle. The slopes at the resort are formed by the rocks in such a way, creating a natural extreme ski piste suitable for jumps and any kind of tricks.
There are about 13 off pistes available to choose from, with the Uffes vägg and Rimfors being the most popular ones. Visit Nordalsfjäll slopes where every year (14-16 May) at the resort the Scandinavian Big Mountain Championship is being held, the world’s original big mountain competition. SBMC is not only a race for prize money. It is the grand finale of the European free-ride season.
The skiing season is from February to June. From mid-May, the lifts operate under the midnight sun. The temperature until May is very low often reaching at -20°C/-4°F (January and February).
