Du Toit’s Kloof is an impressive valley with huge sand stone walls and offers one of the most challenging traditional climbing and still has more first ascents for the intrepid climber. Level of difficulty here is from hard to moderate and not suitable for children. The spot boasts multi-pitch traditional climbing with long technical descents and lasting up to 3 hours.
The challenging routes can be up to 400 m/1312 ft and graded between 17-27. Classics here include “Exposure in F Major” at grade 18, “North-West Frontal” graded at 19 and “Armageddon Time” at 23. It should be noted though, that in order to climb at this spot, one needs to acquire a permit from relevant authorities.
