The town hosts many interesting historical sites and is famous for its Kona Coffee cultivation and the crystal clear sea. Kona International Airport is located at fifteen minutes in the south of the main town. Along the sea side, there are shops and schools to buy or rent diving gear as well as take lessons if you are a beginner.
However, Manta Ray Madness spot is not recommended for beginners. It is a great night diving spot where you can dive at sundown and wait for Manta Rays to appear and start feeding with plankton. The average depth is 30 ft/9 m and the maximum depth is 50 ft/15 m with medium visibility.
The biodiversity of the bottom is outstanding because even if you miss the Manta Rays, you will be excited by the big tropical fish, lobsters, eels, sea turtles and playful spinner dolphins.
