Best snow shoeing season:
November through December
Wenatchee is the largest city of Chelan County, located in North Central Washington and lies on the west side of the Columbia River. The city is also known as the Apple Capital of the world, due to the valley's apple cultivations.

Tonga Ridge Trail is located on the Central Cascade Mountain, at the Wenatchee National Forest. It is 7 mi/11 km long (out and back), about five hours hike with an elevation gain of 1400 ft/426 m.

The trail is open for snowshoeing from November through December and is suitable for all skill levels and ages. Tonga Ridge Trail is considered to be one of the best snowshoe trails in the state. By November, the snow is more than enough and the mountain view is unbelievable.

By late December, the road is already closed for cars and the only way to get there is with a 4wd. Walk through dark forests, alpine scenery and untouched snow if you visit the trail early enough. The path is safe from snowdrifts but always check the weather forecast before you choose this trail and don’t forget to take with you a map and a compass.
