Capture breathtaking beauty of the Wild Coast by hiking from Port St. Johns to Coffee Bay. The hiking trail is a 100 km / 62 mi distance, not suitable for children. The trail is characterized by river crossings, high coastal cliffs, sculpted beaches, forested hills and valleys. The trail is only for experienced and high fitness leveled individuals since much of it is up hill or through rough terrains.
The best way to experience the trail is to plan at least a minimum of 5 days, doing an average of 20 km/12 mi per day, with an experienced guide. You need to carry basic essentials like food and gear since accommodation is mostly in village huts.
The best time to hike the Wild Coast is during the Autumn to Spring months of late March to end of October. At this time of year the days are generally clear and cool for hiking and the rivers are low for easy crossing.
