Windhoek, the Namibian capital city, lies in the central part of the country in the Khomas Hochland plateau which separates Windhoek from the Namib Desert. The city is the starting point for many prestigious races and seat of many athletic clubs.

Windhoek city, situated in the  mainland of Namibia is the starting point for several and prestigious mountain biking-free riding races. Many races start from there in the early winter-May or June- and cross the Namib Desert through vast national parks and conclude in the east side of Namibia in the coastal cities of Swakopmund or Walvis Bay.

One of the most prestigious competitions which performed there is the Namib Quest Race. It starts at Windhoek and concludes after 454 km/282 mi, passing through different climate zones and various landscapes, from urban cities to desert settlements and coastal resorts.

Although Namibia is a country which includes immense areas of desert, volcanic origins rock formations and has very high temperatures all year round, these conditions create a paradise for the mountain biking fans with many challenges, classic trails to beat and many different obstacles to over pass.
