Wind Surfing in Vilamoura, Faro, Algarve Portugal

Vilamoura is a tourist destination, located on the Algarve coast, specifically laid in the municipality of Loule in the Algarve. It is approximately 24.5km/15mi away from Faro, the southernmost city in Portugal. It is the largest tourist group in Europe and well known for its opulence. You can find art galleries, roman ruins, museums such as Cerro da Vila. You can also come close to the nature and the lushness of deep forest with pine trees.

Windsurfing is a famous extreme sport and combines sailing and surfing. So, if you want to feel the power of the wind, take your board and run to the long, sandy and really clean beach of Vilamoura. The good weather and the outrageous waves provide the right conditions for windsurfing.

 In summers there are waves with swell size from 1.5 to 4 ft (0.5- 1.3 m) and the wind blows offshore at 4%. The temperature during summer is around 28°C/82.40°F. In autumn the waves swell size is from 1.5-4 ft (0.5-1.3 m) to 6.5-10 ft (2-3 m), and the wind blows offshore at 6%. In winter the wave swell size is between 6.5-10 ft (2-3 m), but sometimes there are waves with swell size more than 10 ft (>3 m).

The wind blows offshore at 5% and the temperature is at around 15°C/59°F.  In spring the wave swell size is between 1.5-4 ft (0.5-1.3 m) and the wind blows offshore at 8%. The level of your skills as a windsurfer doesn’t matter, since there are windsurf schools with experts at your disposal, in case of need.
