Cascais is a beautiful coastal town, located just few miles in the west of Lisbon. Fronted by the Atlantic Ocean, with a large yacht marina and a wide variety of hotels and restaurants, as well as intense nightlife, this cosmopolitan Portuguese suburb is considered to be one of the top holiday destinations for both local and foreign visitors.

Cascais is also surrounded by many popular beaches with incredible seascapes that offer many recreational activities. One of these beaches is Guincho Beach. Situated at about 5 km/3 mi away from the main town, offering ideal weather conditions, the beach has become a global playground for kite-surfing enthusiasts.

Widely known for its natural beauty and the strong northern winds, blowing during summer at a maximum speed of 25 knots/46.3 kph, this place is the perfect spot for high adrenaline free-style fun. The sea is crystal clear and sandy while the predominant winds provide with non stop beach breaks and powerful lefts and rights.

Along the coastline, there are schools with experienced instructors, awaiting to introduce you to the amazing kitesurfing world and lead you safely into the waves. The best season to kitesurf in Guincho Beach is from July to September and for those who seek the high speed winds of the spot, the best part of the day is in the afternoon. Kite-surfers should be careful also of the sea-currents. However, because of the location’s popularity, bear in mind that the spot is overcrowded during weekends.
