Flanked by the Indian Ocean in the south and the Tsitsikamma mountains in the north, the area offers amazing outdoor adventures.
Among Tsitsikamma’s top list, surfing at Jeffrey’s Bay famously known as the J-Bay can be a unique experience. Dubbed as Africa’s surf capital, the J-Bay offers an all year round over the top surf breaks for all levels of surfing. It is divided into several sections with “super-tubes”, the most famous of them which breaks at 984 ft/300 m or more with large wave sizes, wide-breaking waves and even swells. Super-tubes are mostly recommended for advanced and professional surfers.
For the novice surfer, the “Kitchen Window” is more accommodating with right hand beach break at 2-4 ft/0.6-1.2 m. Consistent waves can be observed during the months of May to mid September, although good waves can also be occasionally cited other times of the year.
