Ponta Do Ouro is the southern most village in Mozambique and is a popular holiday destination. It lies on the Mozambique Channel, southern of Maputo and just northern of the border with South Africa. A long stretch of reef, it derives its name from an anchor that lies below it. It is a beautiful and interesting reef with nooks and crannies to explore. Characterized by hard and soft corals, which are home to the unusual anemone and its family of domino fish.
Dive depths here range between 18-21 m/59-68 ft and the spot accommodates the advanced diver. The reef also has a small ledge at the inshore which is home to the trumpet fish. Some other marine life expected here include red fang, trigger fish, yellow-back fusilier and many more.
