Ponta Do Ouro is the southernmost village in Mozambique and is a popular holiday destination. It lies on the Mozambique Channel, southern of Maputo and just northern of the border with South Africa. Ponta Do Ouro boasts pristine beaches and is well known for its long stretches of white beaches. There are no tarred roads, therefore it is only accessible by 4x4 vehicles.

Quad biking in Ponta Do Ouro has become increasingly popular. Riding here offers the opportunity to explore the area’s 4×4 tracks, sand dunes, inland lakes, the nearby beach forests and the light house which gives a mesmerizing bird’s eye view.

The most popular spot for quad bikers is 4-5 km/2.4-3.1 mi north of Ponta Do Ouro and consists of tracks which run through dense dune forests and half-pipe like sand pits. Don’t be fooled by the soft sandy dunes, they can be a hustle to tackle!!

There is a maximum speed limit of 20 kph/12 mph and children under 16 years are not allowed to ride within Ponta itself, however there is a spot outside the village that caters for them.
