At the mouth of Bensafrim River and along the Atlantic ocean, you can find Lagos. It's a municipality in the Barlavento region of the Algarve, in Portugal. It's a place with historical meaning.

The old part of the city is circled by the walls, that were constructed during the 16th century. The status of prince Henry in the Praça Infante Dom Henrique is worthy of admire. The famous Lagos ‘golden church’ of St. Anthony has its entrance through the museum. You should definitely visit both of them, it’s really worthy.

The ‘Slave Market’ is at the opposite side of the church. It was the place where the slaves were sold. On a hill behind the fish market, you will find the church of St. Sebastian dating from 14th to 16th century.

If you try to find a way to explore the caves of Lagos, then kayak is your solution. You can start your exploration from Batata beach. Feel the adrenaline, while you are coming closer to your hidden treasure. The spot is suitable for beginners and the things are easier for the more experienced practitioners. But, don’t worry because there are kayak schools in Lagos, with experts at your disposal, in case you need. On your spare time, you can visit the zoo and spare time with the beauty of nature. There are vineyards in the area, that are open for visitors. You can taste the good wine.
