Horseback Riding in Long Valley, Sonora, California USA

Sonora Pass is located near Pinecrest, Tuolumne County, California, USA. It is off of Highway about 60 mi/96.5 km east of Sonora.

There are some very popular trails for horseback riding in Sonora Pass. One of the best trails is Martin’s Cow Camp to Long Valley. It is located on Eagle Meadow Road, that splits off Highway 108, approximately 12 mi/19.3 km above Strawberry. You can follow the road for about 6 mi/9.65 km to Martin’s Cow Camp.

There are many nice day rides, but one of the most popular ones is up Long Valley, that takes you to the base of East Flange Rock. A good ride is the 4 mi/6.4 km ride through Eagle Meadow via Eagle Pass and down to Cooper Meadow. Twain Harte Horsemen frequently plans rides in the area.

It also sponsors and participates in various trail rides, including Early Ride, Spring Ride and a five day THH High Ride in the Sierras, which is lovely in early August. It offers many trained horses and instructors, that will provide a safe and enjoyable ride. One of the club’s responsibilities is to maintain the trails, by clearing them of fallen trees.
