Already since the '70s, Cortina d' Ampezzo was considered to be the most important flying area in Italy and Europe as well. The Italian Free Flight Federation was also founded here in 1976 when many clubs have started to operate many free flights at the same period.
Cortina is also hosting many and very important national and international competitions and championships such as the International German Open and the National Trofeo Montegrappa. After a short period when free flight was banned, Cortina returns to play an important role to the sport.
The flying season begins in June and it ends in October. Nearby, Val di Fassa is a well-known flight zone and it is regarded as the home place for free flying. Flying to the alpine sky gives you the unique opportunity to admire the incredible natural landscape while it offers you a breathtaking panorama!
