The climate is tropical wet, but during winter is very windy and dry, ideal for water sports. Along the sea side, there are schools and shops to buy or rent surfing gear as well as to take surfing lessons if you are a beginner.
Kanaha Beach is great for all skill levels. It hosts classic wave quality with regular frequency and the wave takes both right and left directions. The wind direction is coming from Southwest, South. The sea is reef coral and the beach is big and sandy.
Kanaha Beach is divided in two sailing areas, the Uppers and Lowers. Uppers, have bigger, unpredictable waves and in Lowers, the waves tend to be a bit smaller but longer.
