One of the biggest ski resorts near Queenstown is Cardrona. Situated on the Cardrona Valley Rd, it is at 58 km/36 mi from Queenstown and at 34 km/21 mi from Wanaka. The site is open from late June to early October and offers a great variety of facilities.
With its varied terrain and a total number of 8 lifts, it consists one of the most popular destinations for snowboarders. It has 2 half-pipes (try the legendary 6-7 m/19-22 ft super pipe) and 3 terrain parks.
