Glencoe is a small village in the Highlands of Scotland, situated in the heart of a glen. The spot offers many facilities to its visitors, who would like to combine leisure with mountain activities. Glencoe mountain resort, the oldest one in the country, is a ''must visit'' in the surrounding area, especially for those who love snow-sports.
Glencoe mountain resort is one of the most worthwhile in Scotland, since this is not a poor alpine imitation. Its incredible natural terrain makes it a small natural fun park. Due to Glencoe’s remote location, it is far less crowded than any other Scottish resort. Glencoe provides 19 runs, that suit all levels. The biggest one is 1600 m/5249 ft long. There are also 7 lifts.
Beginners in alpine skiing will not have any problems, since there are some ideal short runs to try, that can be easily reached. In addition, experienced instructors could help skiers, as lessons are available at Glencoe’s Snowsport School. On the other hand, experts have the opportunity to choose from a wide variety of terrain, not easy at all.
Glencoe mountain resort includes the longest and steepest runs in Scotland, offering about 305 m/1000 ft of vertical drop. It also hosts the longest vertical descent in the country of about 800 m/2624 ft. The weather conditions are really harsh sometimes, but people here do their best.
