If you need a dose of adrenaline, take your snowboard and run to the right beach. Don't be confused, it's not about the magic of snow, but the feeling when you are kite-boarding. Talking about the right beach, Costa da Caparica beach is a good choice.

The spot is located in Portugal, in the municipality of Almada, along the western coast of Setubal. The Tagus river crosses this beautiful village. This place is really friendly and has all the usual tourist facilities.

In the old days, it was a fishing village but as the time passes become a tourist preference. The old Capuchin Monastery, on the cliff above the beach, founded in 1558, it’s a treasure. Don’t lose the opportunity to visit it.

Costa da Caparica is well known for its long, sandy beaches, about 30 km/18 mi. It’s the largest extensive beach in Portugal and with the right conditions for kite-board.  In summer, the waves swell size is 1.3-2 m (4-6.5 ft) and the wind blows offshore at 4%. In winter, we have waves with swell size from 2-3 m (6.5-10 ft), but sometimes the waves are >3 m (10 ft) and the wind blows offshore at 36%. In spring, the wind blows offsh0re at 21% and the waves swell size is from 1.3 to 3 m (4-10 ft). In autumn, the wind blows offshore at 25% and the waves swell size is from 1.3-2 m (4-6.5 ft) to 2-3 m (6.5-10 ft).

For the wind, southeast, east and northeast direction is the best. The northwest, west, southwest and south are the good directions for swell. The waves are regional classic with very consistent frequency (150 days/years) and a beach-break. Follow the right and left direction of the fast and powerful waves.

In Costa da Caparica, you can also walk among the acacia and eucalyptus trees and the beautiful cliffs. There are other activities that you can do in this village and if you feel tired, the comfortable accommodations are waiting for you.
