Alexandra Headland is an exposed beach and point break that provides both left and right hand waves. The spot is appropriate for beginners and advanced surfers alike. Here you are able to explore the waves with swell sizes that can hold up to 3 m/10 ft. The best wind direction is from the southwest and the ideal swell direction is from the southeast. In addition, the best tide position is mid and high tide. The average water temperature is around 28°C/82.4°F in summer and around 20°C/68°F in winter.
In summer, the wind blows offshore at 8%, in autumn the wind blows at 23%, in winter at 39% and in spring at 11%. It is a popular surf site, so it is usually very crowded. Alexandra Headland beach offers a variety of facilities, including the Surf Life Saving Club. Last but not least, apart from surfing you can take a short coastal walk or jogging from Mooloolaba Esplanade to the Mooloolaba Rock wall and enjoy the amazing view of the sea. Note: be careful of rips, rocks and jellyfish.
Lossie East Beach is situated close to Moray Firth. This beach is suitable for surfing at all times.
