One of the most popular sports in the major Arber area is Snowshoeing. If you want to practice snowshoeing, you should try performing this activity on the existing cross country trails. One of the most famous trails is Bayerwald Trail, at 23 km/17 mi in the north of Grosser Arber. It is a 150 km/93 mi long trail that covers the area from Arber/Osser to the Dreisessel. This trail can be also covered in stages.
All of the trails promise amazing beauty in a breathtaking white snow natural setting. In order to preserve the surrounding area, sometimes you might have to walk a short distance until you find the next trail. Another limitation is that this trail must be passed only one-way from north to south.
The trail can be identified by a snowflake that is shown on DSV-regulation signs. It is very difficult to get lost since information boards and signposts along trail are available, indicating the networking trails in the neighborhood.
Best time to visit the spot is in mid winter as the trail come across various spots at a different elevation. During winter months, practitioners will perform snowshoeing at easy, given the good and consistent snow conditions.
