Victoria is the second-smallest state of Australia. It borders with New South Wales to the north and Tasman Sea to the east. The unique combination of spectacular coastline, pristine beaches, numerous national parks, dense forests and mountains attract visitors all year long and offer a plethora of activities to sport lovers.
Mornington Peninsula lies to the southeast of Melbourne, Victoria’s capital city. It is surrounded by Western Port to the east and Port Phillips to the west. There is a vast number of great surf sites all along this section. Cyrils is an exposed reef break, offering reliable conditions for surfing. Surfers can explore the waves with swell sizes from 1.5 m-2 m/5 ft-6 ft and holds up to 2.5 m/8 ft. The best tide movement is rising tide and the ideal tide position is mid and high tide.
In summer, the wind blows offshore at 17%, in autumn the wind blows at 30%, in winter at 28% and in spring at 21%. The site is suitable for experienced surfers. Offshore winds blow from the north, northwest and the ideal swell direction is from the south, southwest. Last but not least, if you are a trekking fun then you should take a coastal walk, the Bushrangers Bay Track and get some breathtaking views over the sea. Note: watch out for sharks and rocks.
