Manta Reef in Tofo Beach offers a phenomenal world class scuba diving opportunity. Located at 22 km/13 mi away from the shore, it was discovered in the 1960’s and has since become popular with biologists, photographers and divers worldwide. It is a gentle drift dive from north to south with dive depths ranging between 21-26 m/69-85 ft. The dive begins with a negative entry into 26 m/85 ft into the middle of a small turf, crammed with life.
Further on as the dive progresses, it is a series of pinnacles before you get to the first cleaning station at a shallow of 21 m/69 ft depth where mantas roam overhead to be cleaned by goldies, cleaner wrasse and butterfly fish. The visibility stands between 10-30 m/33-98 ft and this site is fit for the advanced diver. This is a must do in your list as the experience will mark your memory, especially as you end your dive upwards, accompanied by curious school of devil rays, wheeling about your safety spot.
