Langebaan Lagoon is situated at 120 km/74 mi north of Cape Town and stretches at 20 km/12 mi in length and 4 km/2.5 mi wide. Unlike other lagoons, Langebaan is pure salty water. The white sandy beaches and crystal clear waters are just breathtaking whether it is sunny or cloudy.
Another highlight is the West Coast National Park, located in the vicinity of the Langebaan Lagoon. The park offers a unique mountain biking trail which is scenic but not technically difficult. The ride is breathtaking and allows you to connect with nature. Distance runs between 13-18 km/8-11 mi with 40 percent tar and 60 percent jeep track.
The routes here are summarized into 2 routes, the easy route and the hard one. The easy route is normally marked with green arrows indicating shorter and easier routes. Half of this trail is on tar road but hilly… after the tar, you get to the rocky jeep track, descending to the lagoon shore with amazing scenery. The harder route on the other hand has 2 challenging detours off the green route with a dirty climb to Seeberg view point, which is the hardest but once on the top… it is all worthwhile and rewarding to your efforts.
