This spot is an exposed reef break and it is appropriate for intermediate and expert kiters. The waves are normal and the best wind direction is from the northeast and the southwest. The swell size starts working at 1 m/3 ft to 2.5 m/8 ft and the ideal swell direction is from the southeast.
In summer the wind blows offshore at 15%, in autumn the wind blows at 35%, in winter at 50% and in spring at 23%. Best months for kitesurfing are January, February, March, November and December. The average water temperature is about 21°C/69.8°F.
Long Reef beach has a large area to launch and land your kite, so keep a distance off of surfers and flags and do not kite through groups of surf schools. Last but not least, there are kite-surf schools in the area, in case you need.
