Waihee Ridge Trail is a 4.5 mi/7.2 km long (out and back), about three hours hike and starts from the end of Maluhia Road where you find a fence marking the trail head. Hiking through West Maui forest reserve, you walk through lush rainforest and you have the opportunity to admire spectacular views of valleys, the ocean and the Haleakala side of Maui.
The trail is for all skill levels, as long as you wear shoes with good grip because the path is slippery and muddy. It has an elevation gain of 1650 ft/502 m and it is very well marked.
