Kahului is located in Maui Island on Hawaii and is the largest city of the Island. It is considered to be a shopping destination because there are several major stores and malls.
It’s also home to Kahana Pond State Wildlife Sanctuary and the Alexander and Baldwin Sugar Museum, dedicated to Maui’s sugar industry. Kahului has its own major airport located in the North shore. Waihe’e Valley Trail is also called Swinging Bridges because of the two wooden swinging bridges the hiker must cross.
It is 3.8 mi/6.11 km long (out and back) about three hours hiking and is suitable for all skill levels. The trail leads you through lush tropical forest, huge trees and two wooden swinging bridges over Waihe’e river. The bridges are not very high but not steady at all, so you need to be careful when you cross them. The end of the trail leads you to a man made diversion dam and waterfall where you can have a refreshing swim. Don’t forget your swimming suite.
