Queenstown is considered by many sportsmen as the capital of extreme sports and adventure activities. It is situated in Otago region, in the South Island, New Zealand.

The town is surrounded by Lake Wakatipu and the awe-inspiring Southern Alps, with spectacular mountains such as the Remarkables, Cecil Peak and Ben Lomond. Queenstown and the surrounding area was the setting for the legendary films Lord of the Rings and X-Men Origins. Despite the mountainous landscape, the climate is considered to be oceanic, with warm summers and temperatures that can reach up to 30°C/86°F, and cold winters with frequent snowfalls.

One of the best and most challenging ways to explore Queenstown and the surrounding area is trekking. There is a great number of trails in the immediate area around the town (Bob’s Cove track, Mount Ben Lomond, Mount Crieghton loop track, Moke Lake to Arthurs Point Track, Sawpit Gully loop track, Skippers Saddle). Immerse yourself in the trekking adventure, feel the thrill of your personal effort and cover miles and miles discovering the rare and wild beauty of the surrounding mountains, gorges and forests!

Note: For those who prefer multi-day adventures, Routeburn, Milford and Hollyford Tracks are undoubtedly the most famous and rewarding ones.
